Browns sign Brian Hoyer to two-year deal
BEREA, OH (WOIO) -
The Browns added another quarterback to the roster on Thursday night. The team signed former St. Ignatius star Brian Hoyer to a two-year deal.
The deal won't be official until Friday. The team will have to release someone off their 90-man roster.
Hoyer was released last week by the Arizona Cardinals. In his only start with the Cardinals, week 17 against the 49ers, Hoyer threw for 225 yards and one touchdown and interception. In his career, he has completed 57 of 96 passes for 616 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
He is expected to compete with Jason Campbell for the back-up quarterback spot.
Hoyer, who grew up in North Olmsted, went to St. Ignatius and then to Michigan State. He was signed by New England as an undrafted free agent in 2009.
