Enfield police investigate death of 19-month-old boy

ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Enfield police said they were investigating the death of a 19-month-old boy that was reported Monday evening.

Police said the boy's mother called 911 and reported that her child was not breathing. Emergency officials arrived at the home and brought the 19-month-old to Baystate Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Enfield police were at the Cottage Green home in the Thompsonville section of the city until after midnight investigating and gathering evidence, but officials said it appears as though the child's death will be ruled accidental.

Officials said the child's parents and other children were inside the home at the time of the incident, and the state Department of Children and Families was notified.

No other information was released.
