Marco’s truck heads to Oklahoma with donations

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

When disaster strikes a town in any corner of the U.S., Toledoans rush in to help. It's no different now, as the corporate division of Marco's Pizza is loading up a huge semi truck of donations from the community to send to Moore, OK.

"They had this tragedy happen so close to them," said Jim Strachan, with Marco's. "Even though they are thousands of miles away from us in Toledo, it was like it happened to us next door."

Lives have been ripped apart after an EF-5 tornado ripped through Moore Monday. Roofs were ripped from homes, whole trees snapped like twigs. Now the Marco's corporate division in Maumee decided to hit the road to help.

"We've collected laundry detergent, trash bags, cleaning wipes and water, and a generator for any of the power that's been lost," said Page Stichter.

The collection will also include clothing and enough supplies to make and give away 18,000 pizzas.

"I'm really excited to be able to help," said Caitlin Flack. "They're at a loss right now. They completely have nothing. Just to be able to help them turn their lives around – it's going to take months, years for them to get back to where they were just last week."
