CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Firefighters who responded to a deadly shooting rampage at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Brooklyn were honored on Thursday, May 23, 2013.

As part of EMS Week, MetroHealth is hosting an EMS Awards Ceremony today. Workers from around the greater Cleveland area will receive honors for their heroic actions.

On April 12, 2012, Kevin Allen shot and killed his wife, Katherina, and the couple's daughters, Kerri and Kayla, at the Brooklyn restaurant.

After the shooting, Allen tried to exit the restaurant and was approached by officers. He was ordered to drop his weapon, but ignored commands. Officers shot Allen multiple times. He died on scene.

Kevin and Katherina were having marital issues. He apparently snapped when Katherina said she was leaving him.
