Cooler, drier air sticking with us for the holiday weekend.

Posted: Updated:

We're in for an absolutely gorgeous start to the holiday weekend.  A few scattered showers hung around the border of western NC and TN this morning as an upper level low forced the northwesterly winds over the mountains.  Dry high pressure will force the last of the clouds and rain out of the mountains by noon, while the rest of the Upstate has seen brilliant sunshine all morning long.  The biggest issue of the day will be breezy conditions, with potential wind gusts up to 30mph in the Upstate, and up to 40mph in western NC.  Saturday morning will be a cold one near 40° for the mountains, with upper 40s for the Upstate.  The Upstate will warm nicely into the upper 70s with plenty of sunshine and light winds, and lower 70s in western NC.  Sunday we continue with the dry weather, though we'll see a mix of sun and clouds build in.  We end the weekend with highs near 80° in the Upstate, with low to mid 70s in western NC.
