New road closures for Captain America filming, and RTA Alternatives

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The City of Cleveland has sent out a new updated road closure list regarding the filming of Captain America 2, and RTA has updated info for alternatives to avoiding downtown traffic.

Maureen Harper, Chief of Communications for the City of Cleveland said, "We are trying to provide you with the most current information. We appreciate your continued patience, and please be on the lookout for regular reminders and updates."

Filming has been underway since May 20, and the calendar has been updated to reflect the progress thus far. Please also note that Prospect Ave. will not be closed and will remain open at this time.

The Shoreway closure starts this week. Please plan your alternative route ahead of time to avoid any confusion.

Drivers are reminded to expect longer drive times and are encouraged to leave a little earlier to allow for possible delays.  Bus riders and pedestrians are also advised to call RTA for changes in bus routes and find alternative streets to travel on foot.
 
Here are some RTA updates to help avoid some of the traffic congestion:
 
S-curve is open on Red Line and Waterfront Line opens for seven days a week on Thursday.

Need an alternate commute with the closures downtown (including the shoreway)? Take the Red Line in from the west. The S-Curve is open, as of Sunday May 26th, two weeks ahead of schedule! Trains running from Brookpark through Tower City and all the way to Windermere on the Red Line.

Thursday, May 30th the Waterfront Line opens officially seven days a week!
