CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police confirm a multi-vehicle accident that took place on I-90 near East 72nd St. on Thursday, May 30th

Emergency crews responded after receiving a call around 10:45 a.m.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a two men in a Saturn stopped to help a woman and 4-year-old girl in a stalled Chevy Malibu.  The male passenger from the Saturn directed the woman and child to the side of the road and he then attempted to push the Saturn off of the highway.  He needed help so the male drive of the Saturn exited the vehicle to assist.  As the male driver was pushing the Malibu on the driver's side door, a male driving a Ford Excursion struck the Saturn.  The Excursion pushed the Saturn, rotating it into the male on the driver's side, who was then possibly struck by both the Saturn and the Excursion.  The Excursion continued into the wall and the Saturn collided with the Malibu, pushing it further down the roadway.

The unidentified 50-year-old black male struck by the vehicle was transported to the Cleveland Clinic where he died as a result of his injuries.  Other injured victims were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where they were being treated and released.

No arrests or citations at this time.

The accident greatly impacted the flow of traffic on I-90 and is currently under investigation.
