Woman sentenced for taking traffic fine money from Arlington Heights

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) -

A woman was officially sentenced on Monday for her role in stealing money from the village of Arlington Heights.

Donna Covert, 52, pleaded guilty in March as part of a plea deal. She was sentenced to one year in jail and will have to pay back the $260,000 that was taken.

Covert's daughter, Laura Jarvis, is scheduled to go on trial on Sept. 16 for the same charges. If she is found guilty, they will split the $260,000.

Investigators believe Covert and Jarvis took traffic fine money from the village while they were employees. Authorities believe it happened between July 1st, 2007 and  February 19th, 2010.
