Family, friends, and the community are remembering four teens who died in a tragic crash last summer.

Five teens were in the car, only one survived.

And now a year after the deadly wreck a community is honoring the victims with something they hope helps others heal. They came to remember the teens killed in a car crash a year ago, dressed in Brunswick Blue.

The gathering was near St. Ambrose Parish for a special dedication in memory of high school athletes Lexi Poerner, Jeffrey Chary, Kevin Fox, and Blake Bartchak.

One by one the names of the four lives lost were called as their loved ones carried candles to a memorial placed in their honor.

"Let's celebrate their life and their goodness," says Father Bob Stec from St. Ambrose Parish.

Jim Tressell was also there to remember the teens who were killed when the car they were in hit railroad tracks at a high rate of speed on Boston Road East of Columbia Township.

"A year ago you taught us how to love and come together," says Tressell from University of Akron.

The crash left a community heartbroken. The victim's family members are thankful for the memorial.

"Blake always had a smile on his face the same as Jeff and the other kids and we just want to celebrate life," says Brent Bartchak, Blake's brother.

"He was irreplaceable. There will always be an empty hole," says Amanda Chary, Jeffrey's sister.

Amanda Poerner, Lexis' sister said, "I know she's looking down and she's smiling and very happy and very thankful."

Now the grotto memorial will mark the spot where others can come together and reflect for the teens taken too soon, as a community continues to heal and honors their precious lives.

"One day all of us will find ourselves with Blake, with, Lexi, with Kevin, with Jeff forever in heaven," says Father Stec.

Julia Romito was the sole survivor of the crash.

In wake of the accident a local organization has set up a free driving safety program for teens.
