Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg has taken up a new hobby: Powerlifting.

Sheriff Rodenberg, 64, competed in the Ohio Police and Fire Games on Friday in Oberlin, Ohio.

Rodenberg exceeded his goals and lifted his heaviest weights, earning three gold medals in bench press, dead left and push-pull.

"I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. May sound corny but have the same sense of accomplishment I experienced in the Marines when I landed on an aircraft carrier for the first time," Rodenberg said in an e-mail to FOX19.

Rodenberg has been training the past year with Deputy Tony Dufrense. Dufrense operates Total Development, a personal training business with his wife, Jill.

"Worked hard for a year under Tony Dufrense's expert guidance and everything came together at the right time," he said.
