CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Elias Acevedo for a Cleveland Police Rape Cold Case from 1993.

Acevedo was indicted June 6 after Cleveland Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were able to identify him as a suspect using updated DNA research.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office asked the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to help locate him.

Task Force members found him Tuesday at a family member's house on the 2300 Block of Seymour Ave.  He was arrested taken to jail.

"The citizens of Seymour Avenue witnessed the arrest of another sexual predator with a violent history of preying on women," said Pete Elliott, U.S. Marshal.  "We made all of our resources available when it was revealed that Acevedo was in the area.

Elliot also said, "Thanks to the cooperation of Sheriff Frank Bova and the numerous law enforcement agencies within the Task Force, a rape suspect who eluded capture for nearly 20 years can now be brought to justice."
