AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A jury convicted an Akron man on his 6th OVI late Tuesday afternoon.

Samuel D. Hoffmeyer, 41, was found guilty of one count of operating under the influence and a specification for having at least five drunk driving convictions within the last 20 years.

On Sept. 25, Hoffmeyer crashed his truck into a guardrail at the Sheetz gas station on West Waterloo Road.

Akron police officers, who happened to be at the gas station at the time, saw Hoffmeyer stagger from his truck and attempt to run from the crash.

Officers found him in some nearby brush and arrested him.

Judge Tammy O'Brien will sentence Hoffmeyer on July 11.
