Family Wants Justice: Taking back your streets

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A family is speaking out to solve the murder of a loved one and speaking up about an effort to get guns off the streets. That effort is a Gun Buy-Back program hosted this weekend by Cleveland Police.

The family of Lonzelle Booker is still looking for tips.

Someone shot Booker in December of 2010 near E. 131 and Brackland. Homicide detectives have worked the case tirelessly, but the case is still unsolved.

"It just it just hurts. We know somebody knows something. You know tell us," said Denise Booker, the victim's aunt.

Booker's family wants guns out of the hands of criminals.

"If they get one gun off the streets that would be used to commit a crime they could save one life. How do you measure the value of one life?", said Rina Booker, the victim's mother.

For tips, stay anonymous and possibly get a reward. Call Crime Stoppers 216-252-7463.

As for the gun buyback, it happens Saturday.

Guns can be turned in for gift cards and prizes.
