Tightening Up: New NFL rules improves security

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Security is getting tight in the NFL as it announces the new bag policy.

Under the new rules, security will stop women from entering an NFL game carrying hand bags, with or without straps, bigger than your hand.

Female football fans expressed mixed reactions to the new policy.

"I wear three pairs of glasses and I won't be able to put three pairs of glasses in one bag," one fan protested.

"That'll create a challenge and you will definitely have to plan ahead," another fan explained.

Folks over at thefootballgirl.com calls the new policy "a disservice to female fans."

According to league officials fans will also only be allowed to bring in small clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12. A clear gallon-size trash bag would do the job.

"They have a right to search it but to tell me it has to be clear and open to the public," said another fan.  "That's none of their business," protested another football fan.

However, the NFL will sell official, league-approved clear bags for a nominal fee.

The NFL says it's a safety issue.
