San Antonio (WOIO) - There are two former Cavaliers playing a prominent role in these NBA Finals, but Lebron isn't the one people were talking about on Sunday night. Spurs guard Danny Green, the former second-round pick for the Cavs, may be the reason why the Spurs are looking at a 3-2 series lead, heading into Game Six in Miami.
In Sunday night's 114-104 win, Green broke the record for most three pointers in an NBA Finals series. His record breaking 23rd three pointer came with 9:39 left in the third quarter, putting the Spurs up 66-60. The shot surpassed Ray Allen's previous mark of 22 three pointers, which Allen set in the 2008 Finals with the Boston Celtics.
Green went 6 of 10 in Game Five and is shooting 25 for 38 from long range in the Finals.
"I can't believe he's still open at his moment of this series," said Spurs point guard Tony Parker.
"This team is the kind of team that I feel capitalizes on any mistake you make," said Heat guard Dwayne Wade.
With the Heat focusing their defensive on Parker, Duncan and Ginobili, Green has more time to spot up and knock down shots.
