Boston (WOIO) - Recent Trade talks between the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics broke down Tuesday after the Celtics refused to change their initial offer.
The Celtics originally hoped to acquire DeAndre Jordan for Kevin Garnett, and two first round draft picks. In addition, the Celtics would have released head coach Doc Rivers from the final three years of his contract, which would possibly lead to a future with the Clippers.
The Boston Globe tweeted the confirmation from Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. The Celtics president said they hope for Rivers to return to the team for the 2013-2014 NBA season.
With the demise of the potential trade, the Clippers will proceed in the search for their new head coach on Tuesday when they interview former Cavaliers coach Byron Scott.
