CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Positively Cleveland and the Cleveland Convention Center are pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) have selected Cleveland to host the HCEA Annual Meeting on June 21-24,2014.

"The new Cleveland Convention Center, with its state-of-the-art capabilities and easy access to downtown Cleveland attractions and local manufacturers, offers all of the amenities for the Healthcare Exhibitors Association conference," said Tony Prusak, senior director of sales, Cleveland Convention Center. "Our facility has been designed specifically to host this type of healthcare industry meeting, incorporating exhibits, educational programming, social activities, and general sessions with direct access to the adjacent Global Center for Health Innovation."

More than 130 healthcare association meeting planners are members of HCEA. The HCEA Annual Meeting is the only educational conference in North America each year that focuses exclusively on healthcare convention marketing and exhibitions. The group met in New Orleans in 2010, Las Vegas in 2011, Orlando in 2012 and is hosting its 2013 annual meeting this week in Austin, Texas.

HCEA will utilize 75,000 gross square feet of exhibit space for 160 10 foot x 10 foot temporary booths, approximately 700 attendees, and will utilize more than 1,500 group hotel room nights. The direct economic impact is expected to top $2 million.

"The economic impact of the 2014 HCMA Annual Meeting will be felt throughout the community," said David Gilbert, president of Positively Cleveland. "Attendees invested in the healthcare industry will have a first-hand experience of the overall great healthcare presence that our city offers as one of the world's leading medical communities while filling Cleveland's restaurants, attractions and other amenities that are within walking distance of the new Cleveland Convention Center."

In their collective capacity as exhibit and convention managers and meeting planners, HCEA members are responsible for booking more than three million room nights per year for their respective organizations. It will be a busy month for conventions in Cleveland as the 2014 Case Management Society of America conference will be moving out of the Convention Center on June 19 with HCEA moving in the same evening.
