CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Employees with the Illuminating Company are working to restore power knocked out by Tuesday's summer storm.

On South Ridge Road in Madison, one homeowner was greeted with a tree blocking his driveway when he returned from work.

And just down the road, power lines everywhere were down.

"The tree actually spun around as I was closing the window and I heard a crunch and I watched it, like I couldn't believe my eyes," explained one shocked resident. "I just watched it, BOOM, take down the whole front of the gutters and downspouts and a couple of railings of the porch."

A number of First Energy customers are still powerless at this hour.

At the height of the outage, both Lorain and Cuyahoga Counties had more than 14,000 customers alone without juice.

Officials say the storms triggered the widespread outages.
