CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The severe storms in Cleveland were some of the worst that Dayan Birchlar's seen since 1972. The water from the storm rose so fast she has seven feet of water in her basement.

"This was like a river. It was horrible. It looked like we had a lake," said Dayan. Two of Birchlar's cars might be ruined by the flood and she had to use a boat to move her horses to the back of her property.

Dayan Birchlar had a brand new  furnace in her basement that she believes is now ruined she said, "There was really nothing down there but my brand new furnace. It's probably toast. Yeah, it's toast I think and the hot water heater too."

The waters were so high that property from other homes were floating downstream.  Janet Narduzzi said, "I think it's a sandbox that belongs to my neighbor two doors down. I woke up this morning and it was in my front lawn."

In North Ridgeville, it took all day to clean up the smelly mess that the torrential rains left behind.  "Human waste was all over the place," said resident Rhonda Haywood.

Now there is worry that more rain is coming towards Cleveland before the community can fully recover.
