Home invasion suspect appears in court

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The suspect charged in a home invasion on the city's west side made his first court appearance Saturday.

Ronald Ellis appeared before a judge in Cleveland Municipal Court, he is charged with  with receiving stolen property, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, kidnapping and robbery.

Ellis' bond was set a $250,000 and his case have been bound over to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Ellis is a suspect in an attack on an elderly couple. He turned himself in to Cleveland Police Wednesday night. He denied he had anything to do with it.

Last week, armed men broke into a home on Cleveland's west side and attacked the elderly couple. An 82-year-old man was beaten, and his 80-year-old wife was duct taped and stuffed inside the truck of a car. She was later found on the city's east side and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the suspects tried to use the couple's credit cards.
