NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Mercy Health cut the ribbon on the new Rookwood Medical Center Monday.

The cardiology practice, formerly based in Mt. Auburn, is now centrally located in the Rookwood area at 4030 Smith Road.

It's a 24,000-square-foot facility with a state-of-the-art emergency department, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"It's so neat to feel like we are part of something bigger than us. This facility, and getting it going, is going to save lives. Peoples lives are going to be saved here. That is so neat and what a way to fulfil our mission," explained Steve Holman with Mercy Health.

The hospital officials opens Tuesday at 7 a.m.

The cardiology team is accepting new patients. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call  (513) 445-8300 or visit their website: http://www.e-mercy.com/default.aspx
