After the fourth stage of the Tour de France, it is apparent that Orica-GreenEdge team means business. The Australian team recently completed their second consecutive stage win as their leader, Simon Gerrans, took the coveted yellow jersey.
These stage wins are vital for Orica-GreenEdge, as many saw the team as a laughingstock following their disappointing performance during the first stage of the race. The sudden success of the team is largely due to their ability to work together through one of the fastest parts of the Tour in stage four.
"We were by no means the favorite, but we're a well balanced, strong team," said Gerrans. "We thought that if everyone could play their role, if people didn't try to do too much or too little, we would have a chance to finish very close to the top."
Orica-GreenEdge carries a huge advantage and a huge target on their backs heading into stage five with Gerrans wearing the yellow jersey.
