Akron man arrested, accused in attack and purse snatching

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

An Akron man is locked up after police say he attacked two women and stole a purse.

It happened around 2:00 AM Thursday morning on Weathervane Lane.

Akron Police say two 19 year old females walking to their cars in the 1200 block of Weathervane Lane when they were attacked.

The victims reported they were confronted by the suspect in the parking lot. The suspect punched and kicked one female while her friend tried to help her.

The suspect then punched the second female in the face before taking the first female's purse.

The suspect then fled the area. A 31 year old male observed what happened and chased after the suspect.

The male caught the suspect in a wooded area behind a business in the 1400 block of Weathervane Lane and called police.

Police arrested John M. Muzic, 28, of Westgay Drive in Akron. He was positively identified by the victims.

Muzic was charged with robbery and two counts of assault and booked into the Summit County Jail.
