Rasheed rejoins Pistons...as a coach

Posted: Updated:

Auburn Hills, MI (WOIO) - Former NBA All-Star Rasheed Wallace played in several different cities throughout his illustrious career, but he's back where he originally made his mark, signing a two-year contract to join the Pistons' coaching staff in a developmental role.

New Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks said, "He's going to bring a lot of knowledge of how to help our young guys play on the block, because he's been around the league for, like, forever.".

"With him having played that position for such a long time, I know he's going to be a great asset for what we're building."

During his years with the Pistons, Wallace was known as a tough,

hot- headed player who often spoke on the court and had a knack for backing it up with his play.

Wallace racked up a staggering 317 technical fouls during his NBA career, and he hopes to tone that style down heading into this coming season.

"Being over there on the sideline, you try to be more of a motivational inspiration for the kids", said Wallace.

Wallace averaged 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds during his 17-year career.
