CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News heard some of the worst of the flash flooding was in Barberton in Summit County and to our amazement the water was still rising in one neighborhood by the time we got there Wednesday evening.

15 Street Northwest in Barberton was one of the most heavily flooded -- even two hours after the rain had stopped. That means two hours later the storm drain system in the Akron area still couldn't handle the intense storms.

The homes in the area are completely surrounded by water, and everyone's basement is full. This neighborhood is sick and tired of a problem they say the city won't fix.

"This happened about-six-and-a half years ago, it happened about four years ago, it happened about two years ago. Every year the city says well it's a 100 year flood, it only happens every 100 years. Every hundred years is pretty often around here," said Stephen Martin, a resident of the flooded neighborhood.

Some people in this neighborhood will now be replacing their furnaces and water heaters for third time in six years due to complications from flooding.
