ORANGE VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) -

Orange Village Police officer struck by a vehicle on I-271 Thursday afternoon has been released from the hospital.

Officer Robert Rosic, a 20-year veteran, was standing outside his cruiser about 2 p.m., pointing a radar gun towards traffic when a car struck him.

He was Life-flighted to the hospital, but was conscious at the time.

The accident tied up traffic on I-271 for about four hours.  The wreckage remained on the highway for hours while investigators gathered as much evidence as possible before reopening the interstate.

All lanes reopened around 6 p.m.

The driver that struck Officer Rosic has severe injuries and remains hospitalized.  Both his identity and condition are not being released.
