CANTON, OH (WOIO) -

Floyd Graham, the man convicted of killing an on-duty police officer, was denied parole again.  On Friday, July 12, the parole board decided that Graham would remain behind bars.

Graham has been locked up for 40 years and many people in Canton are pleased to know that he will not be set free.  The Cleveland Fraternal Order of Police and others launched a petition earlier this year to keep him incarcerated.

Graham was convicted of the 1973 killing of Officer Fred Vacha.  Vacha and his partner John Saccany pulled Graham over after noticing his suspicious behavior outside of a liquor store.

As soon as officers pulled him over, Graham began firing his weapon, fatally wounding Vacha and injuring Saccany in his ankle.

Graham was sentenced to two life terms in prison.

This is the second time that Graham has been denied parole.  The first time was in 2008.
