Bauer scratched from start in Columbus

Posted: Updated:

Prized Indians pitching prospect Trevor Bauer was scratched from his start on Saturday night in Indianapolis.

Bauer was going through his usual pregame warmup routine of extreme long tossing when he just stopped throwing. After a consultation with trainer James Quinlan, manager Chris Tremie and pitching coach Tony Arnold, Bauer went down the dugout steps and did not return. No word yet on what the problem was.

The Clippers turned to Fernando Nieve to make a spot start.
