ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A representative of the Coast Guard has reported that they along with other local agencies are going to suspend the search for the missing 13-year-old swimmer in Lake Erie.

The search for the missing boy has been going on since the night of Friday, July 12, after the group that he was with at the Saybrook Township Park, noticed that he wasn't with them.

Over 13 agencies had come together in hopes of finding the teen, sending an aircraft from North Carolina and a helicopter from Michigan.  Massive amount of resources were used for what started as a rescue mission which later turned into to recovery effort.

The Coast Guard is due to release an official statement some time this afternoon.
