BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) -

In Bedford Municipal Court, a grandmother accused of leaving two toddlers alone in a hot car was in court Monday morning.

Jacquelyn Simons is charged with child endangering. She showed up without an attorney, so the judge assigned her a court appointed attorney.

A witness called police after seeing the kids in a car parked at the Bedford Walmart on Thursday, June 27.

Police took the children out of the hot car and then to a Bedford Hospital where both checked out ok.

When the grandmother arrived at the car she was arrested.

The two toddlers were released from the hospital and into the custody of an aunt.

Simons will be back in court on Aug. 7.
