Medina County Auditor warns residents of scam

Posted: Updated:
MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The Medina County auditor's office announced Tuesday they are aware of a scam occurring in Medina County.

Medina County Auditor Mike Kovack was contacted this week about a resident being offered assistance to receive unclaimed funds "for only $19.95". Instead of pursuing the offer, the resident did the right thing and informed the auditor's office.

In a statement by Mr. Kovack he informed residents saying, "There is never any cost to make a request for unclaimed funds."

Auditor Kovack said that he has seen this type of scam before, but not for several years.

If you are a resident and receive a solicitation for unclaimed funds, please inform the auditor's office at 330-725-9766
