CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland NAACP leaders are in Florida for the group's national convention, and much of the conversation is centered around the George Zimmerman verdict.

Zimmerman was acquitted Saturday of killing unarmed teen Trayvon Martin last year. National NAACP leaders have been meeting with the Martin family.

Cleveland leaders issued a news release saying they are "saddened and outraged by the verdict".

The national NAACP circulated a petition for the U.S. Justice Department to file civil rights violations against Zimmerman. The petition has more than a million signatures.

Cleveland NAACP leaders say they plan to take a bus to Washington, DC in August for the anniversary on the 1963 march on Washington. The Trayvon Martin case will be a key focal point of that march.
