Milwaukee (WOIO) - Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun repeatedly lied about not using performance enhancing drugs, but on Monday, finally admitted wrongdoing in connection with Miam-based clinic Biogenesis, and Major League Baseball took it from there, suspending Braun without pay for the remainder of the season.
Braun won the 2011 National League MVP award, just weeks before reports of a positive test was announced and appealed. The Brewers outfielder is still under contract until 2020; however this suspension will cost Braun roughly $3.5 million dollars.
At least twenty other MLB players, including Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, could possibly be suspended due to their ties with the South Florida anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis.
Braun will not contest his current suspension.
