This year, fans will play a role in the most interactive PGA Championship in golf history. The PGA announced fans will vote upon the pin positioning on the 15th hole.
The "pick the Hole Challenge" gives fans a chance to vote on PGA.com for one of four pole positions for the 15th hole. The famed hole is a par 3 with a couple of bunkers, and no easy pole position, according to the Chief Championships Officer for the PGA, Kerry Haigh.
"A big part of this is not only to enhance participation and interests among golf fans worldwide," Haigh said, "but also to educate fans, spectators and non-golfers of the information that the best players in the world have when they stand on the tee with their hold sheet and yardage book and all the factors that they are considering for the shot.
Voting for the position began July 23 and continues until the close of the third round on Aug. 10.
