Gladiators quarterback Chris Dieker as the Russell Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Cleveland's 65-62 win over Orlando on Saturday.
Dieker completed 24 of 41 passes for 273 yards and six touchdowns in the game, including a season-high 47 yard touchdown pass to WR Thyron Lewis. He also carried the ball four times for 16 yards and two more touchdowns. Dieker tied his season and career high eight touchdown mark, which he previously recorded July 6th versus Pittsburgh (five passing, three rushing) and June 29th versus Philadelphia (five passing, three rushing).
In 12 games played this season, Dieker has completed 213 of 330 passes for 2,277 yards and 41 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 57 times for 256 net yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. Dieker ranks fourth in the league for average rushing yards per game with 21.3 per matchup.
The AFL also announced that Dieker will be one of three nominees for their weekly MVP award, which is voted on by fans beginning Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. ET on ArenaFootball.com.
Dieker and the Gladiators will finish the 2013 season this Saturday in Utah.
