FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A man accused of murder in Fostoria appeared in front of a judge Thursday morning via video arraignment.

Guards brought Calvin Dixson to the Seneca County Jail in Tiffin overnight. Dixson is accused of killing a mother and injuring her daughter over the weekend in Fostoria.

Lisa Stowers, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Her daughter, Tyeesha Ferguson, 36, was also wounded. Ferguson was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Police say Ferguson is no longer listed in critical condition. She is awake and speaking with family members.

Police arrested Dixson in Cleveland Monday.

On Thursday, Dixson was formally charged with Stowers' murder and Ferguson's shooting. Charged with aggravated murder - a special felony of the first degree - Dixson cannot enter a plea. He was given a $1 million bond with 10 percent allowed.

When the prosecutor read Dixson's criminal record from Cleveland Heights, Garfield Heights, Toledo, as well as a case from North Carolina, Dixson refuted the record, saying those charges were over-exaggerated traffic violations.

After hearing his formal charges, Dixson responded similarly.

Judge: "Do you understand what you have been charged with?"
Dixson: "I understand the charge. I'm not understanding where the charge is coming from. But I do understand the charges."

Dixson was also ordered to have no contact with Ferguson.
