Akron, OH (WOIO) - Firestone Country Club is one of Tiger Woods' favorite courses, and for good reason. The number-one ranked player in the world has won there seven times, and on Thursday, Woods was making his move again, firing an opening-round 66 (-4) in the Bridgestone Invitational, two back of the leader, Webb Simpson.
Woods hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation, saying "I feel very good about what I'm doing with basically my whole swing. I hit a lot of good shots. I had a really good feel for the distance today, and I really read the wind right today. It was good."
British Open champ Phil Mickelson, on the other hand, has some catching up to do, after opening up with a 72, leaving him eight shots back.
