PUT-IN-BAY, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland area Police Officer was cited for disorderly conduct early Sunday morning after a fight in front of the Put-in-Bay police station.

Put-in-Bay Police say Police Officer Joseph Scolaro was with a group of men who were arguing with another group of men. Both sides were accusing each other of spitting on each other.

The groups were separated, but Scolaro allegedly tried to walk back up to the group.
He was told to back up, but allegedly refused.

According to the police report, Scolaro was told a second time to back up and that is when he allegedly grabbed the Put-in-Bay Officer's arm.

Scolaro was then taken to the ground by the Put-in-Bay Officer and walked into the police station, where he was booked and read his citation.

Nobody else was cited.

The police report also states the Put-in-Bay officer smelled a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage on Scolaro's breath.

On his citation, Scolaro lists his occupation as police officer, but does not state which city. Cleveland Police say he is not on their force.
