17 hour standoff ends peacefully in Lorain County

CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

A standoff that began just after 7 p.m. Monday, ended without incident around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. 

Lorain County Sheriff's units had responded to Robson Road in Carlisle Township Monday evening to serve warrants to a 42-year-old man for domestic violence and identity theft.

Upon deputies arrival, the man went to a shed and returned brandishing a long gun. The suspect then returned to the shed, and deputies took cover.

At that point, the Lorain County SWAT team was activated.

SWAT was in contact with the suspect throughout the night, but he refused to surrender until Tuesday afternoon.

His name is not yet being released.

There were no injuries.
