Akron: Teens jump man, demand cell phone

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A 28-year-old man was attacked for his cell phone on Copley Road in Akron.

The victim tells police he was walking home from work around 11:30 p.m. Monday when two males jumped him and demanded his cell phone.

The victim refused to give up his cell phone.

Officers in the area observed the assault, stopped and attempted to break the fight up. The suspects took off running.

Officers apprehended one suspect, a 16-year-old boy. The teen was charged with robbery and obstruction and placed in the custody of the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

The second suspect was not apprehended or identified at this time.

The victim was treated on scene by paramedics.
