CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Mayor Frank G. Jackson joined the Safety Director Martin L. Flask, Police Chief Michael McGrath and Ellis Johnson, Commander of the Bureau of Community Policing, at a ceremony to honor the newest graduates from the Cleveland Division of Police Explorer Program.

The program is designed for those youth between the ages of 14 and 20 years old, both male and female.

The program is a career oriented curriculum similar to Division's Police Academy; but on a smaller scale.

This program is available to all youth who have satisfactory grades, this is not a boot camp, but does emphasize structure, respect, team work and physical conditioning. There are current Cleveland Police officers who graduated from the program in years past.

The Cleveland Police Explorer Academy Graduation was held August 13 at the Cleveland City Hall.
