Vacant junior high school catches fire

ASHTABULA, OH (WOIO) -

A vacant junior high school caught fire Saturday afternoon in Ashtabula.

Ashtabula Township firefighters arrived at the old West Junior High around 5 PM to find heavy flames coming from the building.

They are currently working to control the blaze, but it did do major damage to the building.

The school, on West Ave. and 47 Street, was shut down years ago and was not being used.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is not known.
