CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Jurors begin deliberating Monday just before 4 p.m.  for the trial of Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed.

About two hours later the deliberations wrapped up for the day.

Councilman Reed is accused of DUI and is fighting those charges.

The defense finished calling witnesses Monday. The prosecution wrapped on Friday.

In closing arguments lawyers for both sides made their final case.

"He chose to get behind the wheel of a car while impaired you heard the testimony. The law and the facts are against them," said Prosecutor Victor Perez."

"There is not evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that Zack Reed was driving his vehicle impaired that night," said Defense Attorney Jeffrey Saffold.

Reed was arrested downtown in March.  He was stopped by Cleveland Police at the intersection of E. 9th and Rockwell Avenue around 2:30 AM after he failed to stop at a red light and made an improper turn.

This is his third OVI arrest.

Jury is expected to reconvene tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for further deliberations.
