Man charged with murder at Toledo mission arraigned

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The man charged with killing another man at a Toledo homeless shelter was arraigned for murder Wednesday morning.

Police say earlier this month, Houston Hart beat Joseph Meyers to death at the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission, after an altercation began over pocket change. Meyers sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he died days later.

Hart was originally charged with felonious assault. On Aug. 12, a grand jury indicted him on murder charges.

Hart's hearing has been continued to Sept. 4.
