Police: Stolen car driven into east Toledo pond

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A car was found submerged in an east Toledo pond early Saturday morning. Police say it may have been stolen.

According to officers on the scene, an emergency call came in around 1 a.m. Saturday, reporting a car found floating in Hecklinger Pond.

Police were able to read the license plate number and contact the owner.

The owner of the vehicle said the car was stolen. Police believe the alleged thief may have driven the car around before driving it into the pond.

The person who stole the car fled the scene. Police are working to locate a suspect.
