CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A child survived a fall from a third-floor window, and now her mom is speaking out with a message to other parents.

It happened last week near E. 78 and Cedar in Cleveland.

Four year old Olivia fell from her bedroom window on the third floor, and she fell onto some rough, hard dirt.

Her mom, Kenyana Smiley, heard screaming, and she frantically rushed the child to the hospital, not even waiting for an ambulance to get there. The  child's most severe injury turned out to be a hip bruise.

Mom says she found out later Olivia had beaten the safety latches on the window.

"She showed me how she pushed the little lock things in. I mean, how would that really stop anything anyway," asked Kenyana.

Cleveland Police determined the incident was an accident.

"Make sure you have locks on your windows. Make sure you watch your kids. I wouldn't want this to happen to any other parent," stated Kenyana.
