SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A caregiver has been charged for assaulting a group home resident in Summit County.

Earlier this month, the Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Summit Developmental Disabilities Board in regards to the potential assault. An investigation was immediately launched.

The investigation revealed that a caregiver working at a group home in Silver Lake assaulted a 41-year-old group home resident in the end of July. It was alleged that the group home employee assaulted the developmentally disabled resident during bathing. The assault was witnessed by another individual.

On August 23, Dhaka Battarai, 28, was arrested for assault of a functionally impaired person. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
