Posted: Updated:

Orlando (WOIO) - For the second straight year, the Akron Zips kicked off their season in Orlando, and for the second straight year, it was no visit to Disneyworld, as Central Florida once again delivered an opening-night beatdown, 38-7 the final at BH Networks Stadium.

The Knights stormed out to a 38-0 lead, as Blake Bortles threw three touchdown passes, and Storm Johnson ran for two, before the Zips finally answered in the final minute with a Nick Hirschman TD toss to Imani Davis.

Bortles finished 18 of 24 for 314 yards, while Kyle Pohl went 16 of 21 for 98 yards, and Hirschman 2 of 4 for 18 yards and the touchdown for the Zips.
