The 2013 Basketball Hall of Fame class has been announced
The 2013 Basketball Hall of Fame class includes legendary players and coaches. Point guard Gary Payton, forward Bernard King, and college coaches Rick Pitino, and Jerry Tarkanian headline the group that was announced Sunday.
Payton, known as "The Glove" played 17 seasons in the NBA mostly with the Seattle Supersonics, was defensive stopper and was the 1995-96 defensive player of the year. Currently he is eighth all-time in assists, and fourth for steals.
Bernard King was one the NBA's best scorers but had major knee problems during his 16 year career. King missed 438 games, including two full seasons. King played the majority of his career with the Knicks.
Rick Pitino is coming off his second National Championship, and has won 662 games in 27 years. Pitino is currently 22nd all time in career wins.
Jason Kidd is another player that will eventually make his way to the Basketball Hall of Fame. The organization announced Monday that the new Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets will have his jersey retired October 5th. Kidd will be the sixth Net to receive the honor.
