ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) -

While the nation remembered the tragic events of September 11, a group of local veterans also wanted people to remember the Americans killed at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi exactly one year ago.

Four people were killed in the terrorist attack, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Ten others were injured.

Members of the VFW Post 3205 lined the sidewalk along Alexandria Pike on Wednesday waving placards and reminding drivers to remember those who lost their lives in Benghazi.

"It's up to us to bring these things to the people's attention. Don't let your everyday activities let you forget about the service people and the veterans and the 9/11 people, and the Benghazi people and everybody who sacrificed for this nation," said VFW Post 3205 Commander Joseph Smith.

Veterans at the demonstration stated those who died in Benghazi should not be forgotten because of the heroism they displayed while facing incredible odds.
